Wool Growers French Basque Dinner Run

Wool Growers Basque Restaurant Dinner Run - hosted by John and Erin

Calling all drivers and foodies. We’ll be having dinner at the Wool Growers Basque Restaurant in Los Banos (near Santa Nella).

The Wool Growers is a culinary treat, serving traditional family style French Basque cuisine representative of the mountainous region between Spain and France. The Basque food featured at the Wool Growers is a unique blend of coastal and inland influences, known for its flavorful use of local ingredients like the Espelette pepper. Their dishes are both rustic and refined. Lamb, especially from the Pyrenees, is a prized ingredient, frequently featured in stews and grilled dishes celebrating the Basque region's rich culinary heritage passed down through generations.

Bring your appetite, dinner consists of several courses and serving sizes are generous.

The drive there will be a mix of backroads and highway. We’ll be meeting this Sunday, August 17th at 1pm, at the former Sears Auto Center at Sun Valley Mall. We’ll be departing about 1:30pm

The route will take us out Clayton Road, to Marsh Creek Road, to Vasco Road, and into Livermore. Then we’ll tackle Patterson Pass road for fun on the twisties. We’ll make a comfort stop at the Flying J Travel Plaza in Patterson, then a high speed run to Los Banos via I5. Anticipated travel time 2hrs 37 minutes.

We hope you’ll join us!
